Expertise in non-healthcare professional specialty
HVH can benefit from a wide variety of non-medical professional skills. This includes (but is not limited to):
- WASH (Water and Sanitation expertise) including composting toilet construction
- Eco-friendly/Solar products knowledge
- Expertise is Sustainable Livelihoods/Development
- Management consulting for social business ventures
Program with village children
The Bod Me Limbe village is home to many children who have considerable idle time as they only attend school for a half-day, and there are no structured programs for them to learn skills beyond their very basic education. There is great need for volunteers to create and run workshops, camps or programs for the village children to attend. This could include:
- Sports clinic
- Art clinic
- Teaching English (this can also be offered for adults) but teaching experience or TEFL qualification is required
- Other programs based on the volunteers skills and interests
** Please note: Volunteers are responsible for bringing all supplies needed for their programs. Also the children speak only Creole, so the language barrier must be taken into consideration
Construction
Volunteers with a background in construction or simply the desire to provide manual labor can participate in Project Builds. Individuals or groups interested will work with HVH to create a project plan based on the current needs in the surrounding villages.
Support staff for medical team trips
When medical teams are scheduled for outreach trips, there is often a need for non-medical support. This can include:
- Language translation (Creole)
- Computer skills with available equipment
- Planning, problem solving and logistics
- Publicity and fundraising
- Photography with available equipment
- Aid in triage
- Clinic maintenance, including basic organizing, patient data collection and inventory management
